There are two sub species of wildebeest occuring within the reserve.
Blue Wildebeest are the bigger of the two, with horns extending to the side of the head, they utilize both open grassland and savanna.
Black Wildebeest are smaller, with horns curving forward and a long white tail, they are exclusively found on open grassland.
Both these wildebeest are numerous and can be seen regularly while hunting.
On both species the male and female have horns, the bull's horns are heavier and bigger, averaging 50 inches on the blue and 55 inches on the black.
