Zebra

Due to the vast and varied habitat range of the reserve, two types of zebra can occur.

Hartmann's Zebra occur only in Namibia and are adapted for arid and mountainous areas, therefore they have longer legs and smaller hooves, which makes climbing easier.

Burchell's Zebra occur throughout Southern Africa and prefer open savanna and plains.

From a distance Hartmann's Zebra can be identified due to the stripes that stop on the side of the body, leaving a white stomach, the stripes on the Burchell's zebra goes around the stomach. The Burchell's Zebra has "shadow" stripes between the black stripes, whereas the Hartmann's Zebra only have black stripes.
